Re: lesson learned, the hard way
I have them everywhere in the yard and I put out posters with a $300.00 reward if found, still nothing................THere is no trace of her anywhere, I am so broken hearted! It rained like crazy yesterday and now it is sunny and warm, so maybe she will come out from wherever she is.

Re: lesson learned, the hard way
So sorry to hear that she is out there on her own. Keep looking up and putting out the food. Hopefully she will come out of hiding and all will be well. Dominick can vouch for them, if she is not far from home maybe she will come back home shortly, Rex did. Good luck and keep us posted.

Best of luck...i'm sure you already have, but triple check around the house, everytime I lose someone and i'm SURE that they are gone forever they show up somewhere odd like on top of the fridge or in my closet.

Re: lesson learned, the hard way
Greetings Nicole-
As Debbie alluded to, I certainly feel your pain and know from experience exactly what you are going through.
Of course, seach the entire house top to bottom and side to side. Lift everything, look in every single place. You must verify that she is not in the house somewhere. It's not likely she would venture through an open do so quickly.
When Rex decided to run away for 8 days, we plastered the entire town with posters. My wife told every single person she saw that our giant lizard was missing. We commissioned every kid in town and challenged them to find the giant green iguana.
After 8 agonizing days, there was an anxious rap on the door and a frantic young girl blurted out, "We found the iguana!" I ran outside and there were about 8 kids on bikes forming a circle around Rex. I snatched him up and he was home and safe.
OK, here's the hard part for me...
The SECOND time we lost Rex outside he was gone for 31 days. We did all the same things, but with no success. What I did know was that he was in our yard somewhere because the marigolds were all eaten one day. We had 3large trees in the yard. I put a huge plate of food at the bottom of the trees everyday and covered my patio in marigolds in hopes that we would spot him. Nothing, for weeks on end.
Then, one day, through God's grace, he came home. We found him on the back steps waiting for us.
What I learned from all of this:
1) NEVER EVER leave your iguana outside unrestrained. He's been grounded for years now.
2) They will not tend to venture too far from familiar territory.
3) They go to trees first. It's in their nature and it provides security.
So, search the house over and over again. One time we thought we lost him, he was hiding on the kitchen counter under 3 loaves of bread! Scared the **** out of me when I reached in to move the bread and this giant head was there! LOL I had already convinced myself he got outside, when he was almost right in front of me.
Above all, just like my wife, never give up hope! She is out there somewhere, probably looking at you searching for her. Work until you find her!
Also, look under sheds and bushes, any vegetation at all. They will seek shelter first.
Do not stress over the temperature. They are much more resilient than we give them credit for. Just keep searching diligently.
Good luck. I do hope you find her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: lesson learned, the hard way
Thank you for all the replies! I have now climbed five trees myself to no avail. I plastered posters everywhere with a $300.00 reward for her, still nothing. The food is untouched. The part that really scares me is that she is on borrowed time as she is ill, and needs her kidney meds and her antibiotic shots, and not to mention her fluid shots. I still have some hope, but things are looking so grim! The neighbors are shooting off fireworks which would scare her to move. This whole thing is unbelievable! I miss her so much and am so worried I am so mad at my hubby I cannot even stand to look at him, he was smart enough to go away for the weekend, lol.
I will climb more trees tomorrow, hopefully it will turn up something!
