This was brought to my attention this morning by e mail. I am hoping by chance anyone who is located in or around Washington state can save this Iguana as I am now too full with ten of my own.


this is a craigslist listing which took me forever to find as I do not use Craigslist. The only info in the e mail I recieved was the listing number which is 287495055. Now after about 1 hour I figured out when you go to craigslist it would pop up a search area, just enter the number above and it will show the title to the listing, click on a read for yourself. Also notice the 20 gallon tank and the 1 light !

If anyone out there could save this iguana that would be wonderful, I would also be willing to reimburse you the 40 dollar sale fee on proof that you have the iggy.

Please understand for those who are reading this and have never had an iggy that they require a lot of care and are not for the new reptile keeper. Also please understand that the cage and light system needs to be replaced.

Is there anyone in Washington that can help? That poor iggy does not stand a chance without the proper lighting and enclosure!

Only $40.00 what a deal, around here they are any where between $100-300. Way to many iggies out there that need homes...

Actually, posting animals FOR SALE on Craig's List is a voilation of CL rules. Simply click the "prohibited" button and the listing will disappear. prohibited and restricted items - craigslist

Listed clearly at the top of the "pets" page is this note: [ no animal sales or breeding please -- rehoming with small adoption fee OK ]

Meaning that you CANNOT SELL an animal but you can ask for a SMALL rehoming fee.

I understand that your primary concern is that this iguana finds a good home, but if it's listed "for sale" just click prohibited and he'll have to repost... eventually he'll ask why his ad is being kicked off and you have to opportunity to talk to him about good care. OR contact him, tell him that you rescue igs and would like to a chance to chat with the new owner. Then you can help educate that person.

Are you serious colleen 100-300$ for an iguana Wow you can pick them up here for about 10-25$ depending on what store you go to. I do however like the 100-300$ price range than maybe more would get a better home around here!

I keep telling myself that I will not answer the phone any more or check my e mail and take a break from the negative reality of all this, but I just keep doing it. Self inflicted torture I guess!

I just cant believe that they have it in a 20 gallon tank with one light, you think I would be used this by now, but I am always still floored!

I definately cant wait to add a second story to our shop to have more room!

Nicole those are the adoption fees on Craigslist. LOL I'm all ways responding back to people who post either to "adopt" or want reptile, I try educate them to have them understand the care, life expectancy etc of a reptile.

I have tried contacting this person three times to no reply. Typhanie now I dont feel so bad considering it took me an hour too, LOL, I was getting a real compex over it I am going to try to insert it in here, we shall see if it works though, LOL.

O.K. so I could not figure it out but the listing id is 287495055 and it did work for me this morning try looking under seattle.

Ah. It was choosing Seatle that did it.

That poor ig! Did you see the pic of him in his tank? There wasn't even room for him to move around or walk from one side to the other, he was stretched across the whole thing!

Was it just me, or did he not really look healthy, either?

That makes me angry, and sad that most people just don't know any better.

I saw the picture of the iggy in the tank, horrible! The one thing I noticed was it looks like it may have some possible skin infection, but it is hard to tell from the pictures if that is just remaining shed.

I was really hoping that someone could help that poor thing! I have racked my brain and cannot do it. I have too many as it is, and too many of them being hard cases. I also am in the process in changing all my light systems and bulbs to better ones and buying a uvb meter, and am still biulding new enclosures, so at the moment I am all tied up.

I even thought about trying to put it in with another one that I have around the same size until logic kicked in, if it is sick I cannot risk the health of the other one that has now a clean bill of health from the vet. I also cannot risk the fighting issue. So I am still stuck in the same predicament, no enclosure to put it at the moment, and really no time for the one on one care it needs.

Frustrating..........................

I need to own a 10,000 square foot shop and have about 10 knowledgable employees ........... Like that will ever happen, LOL
