Preparing for the big move down the coast
Ira is just about packed, my things are being shipped behind us. I have his leash, his cage and all its parts, a travel cage that I constructed so that he can watch out the window, a few days worth of food pre packaged and ready so that I have a few days to get set up and find a local store with all the things that I am looking for.
I made a vet appointment for him for the day after we get in so that I can have him on record locally, and they are planning on doing the whole nine yards so that it is all on record there. I have to bring in a fecal sample, they are doing x-rays, and running all the starter tests. Ira used to have severe white coat syndrom, hopefully that is all over. The vet is a woman that I have used in th past and really like, and is located at a local animal hospital. I thought Ira was irritated after my vacation, by the end of the week, he may be waiting to kill me in my sleep. On the plus side though, he is getting his own room arranged just for him and going to be starting free roaming once he is relaxed again. Any pointers on stuff to do before moving or ways of making the move as stress free as possible would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me that you have this well thought out and planned. Best of luck.

The only thing I can see is that unless Ira is used to car rides it might be better to just confine him in a dark container and let him sleep all the way there.
Good luck on the move!

I used a body pillowcase for Huff because he kept rubbing on his carrier and was bruising the top of his head when I moved from San Diego to Cleveland.
