Leaving Ira for the first time with a sitter
I am a little nervous, I am leaving my iguana for the first time with a sitter for more than a day, usually he comes with me everywhere. I made up a 4 page checklist of what to do and how to do it. God willing he will not be a terror for my cousin. I am going on a 4 day trip, and my cousin is the only one that is not afraid of Ira that Ira will tolerate. Last time I had to go overnight he didn't let my family open his cage, hopefully this time will be different, Andrew is a little less likely to give up if Ira gets into kill mode.
I left my number, Ira's vets number, and the local emergency vets number; as well as a care guide in bulletted form for quick reference, and gloves incase he gets out and is being less than nice about being picked back up. Is there anything else I should leave. I put the TV in a spot so he can see it and put it on a timer so he can watch his usual shows (I know that sounds ridiculus, but I figure it can't hurt, I do the same thing for my radio with the Ducks, they like country music at night), I left my old flannel shirt for Andrew to wear so that Ira sees something familiar, it is the one I used to get him used to being handled; I put his food in rations and in plastic ziplock bags so there is no problems cuttting it up; I trimmed his nails and gave him a long bath today so he would be ready to go tomorrow, I even scrubbed down his cage while he was playing in his tree. Andrew has taken care of my pets before with no problems. I feel bad, Ira is not used to being in a cage during the day, so this will be a long time for him to be couped up. I guess this will be good practice for him for the big move next Wednesday to South Carolina; eight hours in a crew cab Ford Ranger with Ducks. By the end of next week, he'll be ready to kill me.

You may also want to give your cousin our website and create an account for him just in case he needs or wants some extra advice.
Have a great trip, and don't fret... too much! ![]()

It is on the checklist, and he has my account name and password in case of problems

WEell keep an eye out for your cousin but hopefully he doesn't need our help, I'm sure it will work out okay. Ira might be a little less than pleased with you by the time you get home though! I know Diz is mad at me for a day or two after I get back form a trip!

I'm sure Ira will be fine. 4 days isn't very long...I wish I could find someone who isn't afraid of my snake...or the food...or the geckos food...people seem to like the gecko though...he is an addorable little kitten after all

You sound like you have been very thorough. My iguanas always seemed unphased about my trips out of town. They always were good for the sitters. I sometimes think they like the break from me.
Good luck on the move to South Carolina. I really miss the McLeod Farm peaches from McBee, SC.

I made it back, I got to see some impressive sharks and dolphins, and had some fun out on a ship on Friday. I unfortunately lost my camera on Saturday, so unless it turns up somewhere in my luggage, I have no pictures... I know, I failed; but outside of a few minor fits, Ira seems to be alright, and didn'y do too much to the cousin, he got whipped everytime he fed him, and Ira didn't eat the first day, but he fell back into routine.
