Itchyness During Shedding...
Often times, Bud will just be chilling on the perch under his lights, not moving and whatnot, but sometimes I'll see him move and he's using his back leg to scratch his head like a dog does. I know that's not unusual, but he also rubs his face on the carpeting often. And when I go to pet him, I usually rub his back along his spines and the closer I get to the start of his tail, he'll stand up and arch his back like a cat does, he'll lean into it and then start to try and get away from me. Is this a sense of pain... because it's sensitive or something? He doesn't hiss or anything... it just kinda bothers me.

Uh... well, as high as I guess it would get in a normal room where we have the a/c on. It doesn't blow on him or anything... his water dish evaporates pretty quickly, so I seriously have no idea.

If he's in a room with AC running the humidity in his enclosure is far lower than he needs, a clear sign of this is how quickly his water evaporates. I would suggest a good thermometer/hydrometer for the enclosure so you can regulate to what he needs.

I agree with Ken. Low humidity leads to retained sheds and him always itching...if the humidity isnt high enough it also causes dehydration.

thats a good digital thermo/hydro.

Bud's a free rosamer so it might be tricky to get the right humidity. I'd try buying a couple of humidifiers and placing them at a couple of places around the room, but i'm with the others, buy a hygrometer. You can get a good one for $10 at the hardare store that will take the temp in 2 places and tell you the high and low humidity for the day as well as the current humidity. Mine is a life saver!

Eh... humidifiers... we'll see. I've been spraying him with this vitamin spray I have and it seems to help out. He's shedding, so I guess it just happens. If it were cold out, I'd probably consider the humidfier thing, but dang... don't those heat up a room? Especially one with as much electronic stuff I have... I'm not sure it'd be a good idea.

They do that scratching from time to time. I don't think its humidity. My cage's humidity is kept at 70 - 80% always with a humidifier sprayer machine. Tyler does the same thing.

This is common behavior but it does sound like your iggy needs more water and humidity.
How often do you let him soak in water? They love that and are natural swimmers. They can also be potty trained to water.
