Inappropriate Defecation
The title says it all....
Dizzy has become a hellion, I guess it probably has to do with him being in his 'terrible twos' and the lovely orange tinge he's got going on But either way he wont go in the tub and he wont go in a tub that is in his cage and he wont go on the papers on the bottom of his cage. Pretty much he only goes on his shelves or on the windowsill and then runs through it and poop paints everything. I have to clean and sanitize EVERY day. I'm at my wits end. I'll leave him in the tub for over an hour and he wont go, even with water changes. He's not having any problem going, he's going USUALLY twice a day. He is parasite free. There have been no dietary changes. There have been no other significant changes to his habitat or routine. I tub him once in the morning and then I have to tub him again at night because he's encrusted with poo. I'm sick of sanitizing my bathtub! Suggestions on getting him back on schedule?

I have no suggestions but I have to say that doesn't sound fun.

Well I am having similiar problems with Huff too. He just turned 3 I think. He was doing so well., He was even knocking at the door to go to the tub. He has been in season since late September but I thought he was coming out finally. But he is doing like he done during his first season. He was in his first season I think when I got him in Oct 2004, seemed to be come out in Feb and then suddenly went back in in March becoming bitey until May.
Well same thing this time with all current his tub training going out the window also. Oh he still wants his baths (sometimes more than once) but refuses to go in the tub. I had him in the tub 3 hours almost once. Luckily he doesn't poop paint. He went in his bowl once but I made the mistake of telling him "Good Boy" (keep making that mistake)--hasn't done it since . He finally got a nip out of my ankle and now is out for blood--got the taste for it just like last year. At least so far (knock on wood) I can pick him up, hold him, pet him, ect... as long as I don't look away. He is very handleable compared to last year. He just has gotten bitey and poops where and when I don't want him to. I have just continued to bathe him, handle him, and clean up after him. Good thing that I convinced Patrick not to put new carpet in. Huff has stained it up and dug a large piece out it in his room. The thing is I think he likes me cleaning up after him. I try to not let him know how aggravating he is though since he seems to enjoy it so Very Very much. I been just trying to wait it out--be more stubborn than him. And avoid his mouth.

Lacey, I have similar problems and my ig is less than a year old. For a while it would poop without fail on its own in a water bowl, then it would poop in its food for a few days, or on the shelves, or this and that. I found that, after a while, they naturally just get back to the scheme of things. I guess they just have periods of time when they break away from their usual habits. I wouldn't sweat it. Perhaps tommorow, it would return to normal again.

Lacey, it sounds like pretty typical breeding season behavior. Gil went through it a few weeks ago. It's almost like they HAVE to mark their territory or something. I feel your pain, hun. LOL... it will get better, so hang in there!

Haha, sweet. I don't know that Will will let me keep an iguana at his place though. Especially one that flings poo.
