Rythmic head bob
Today Liv Tyler head bobbed me again. This is the second time.
It was a rhythmic head bob, one slow big one, then two quicker small ones, then repeat...
It was facing away from me, tail towards me, looking the other way. I don't even know if it saw me. It was facing me when I entered the room. Then it crawled around tail to me and head bobbed. There was nothing in that direction it was looking except its food.
Wonder what that means?

Head-bobbing generally means a sign of dominance - used in mating, it attracts the females to the biggest, show-off males Outside of mating, it is used to show that he is the boss, this is his territory and you are submissive to him, hehe sounds like ol' ig has an attitude problem Na, I'm only joking.. females can head-bob too, but it is more a male trait.
I wonder, is the back of his tank glass? If so he may have been head-bobbing at his reflection thinking it was another ig,. if not he is likely to have been doing it to you when he saw you come in.

No there is no glass. It's an open air cage with wire mesh only.

Well then perhaps he was just head-bobbing at you to establish that you were near his territory. I'm presuming he is male?

Right, well it's likely he was just a little intimidated by your presence and was head-bobbing to try and scare you off so to speak. To him/her you are a big possible threat/predator.

Just to go a little further than Rachel. Believe me he saw you without facing you. If you had intruded into his proclaimed space you would have probably gotten a tail whipping.

Anthony that sounds to me like just an acknowledgement of your presence in his area. Its a more relaxed type of bob than the aggressive "shudder bob". Agressive bobs are a lot more rapid.

I agree with Merlin. Sounds like a greeting bob. My big fat male head bobs all day long and the long, slow bob follwed by a couple faster ones, is his most popular bob. And the vibe I get from him is a "greeting", no aggression or attitude at all. In fact, I've never, ever seen any form of aggression from him, not even during breeding. He's a total sweetie, lol. In fact, he's bobbing right now, lol, he does it all the time. My female almost never bobbed until the male came and head bobbed to her. Then she started bobbing in response, but she has more of a jerky, side to side bob rather than up and down. There's a deffinite difference between their bobbing styles.
I think he's just greeting you. Greet him back if you want with the same bob, we do.

Sounds just like the head bob that Huff was always doing to Dragon. Whatever it meant, Dragon didn't like it. I know because she do her agitated head bob back to him. She also messed on his head. But who knows maybe she just wasn't interested and he wouldn't take no for an answer.
