I don't know a bunch about igs, but my boyfriend's ig loves to see herself in the mirror. I am sure that others on this site are much more experienced than I and their advice is more sound, just throwing another voice out there.

I agree, move the mirror out of the enclosure. Rex never really minded mirror images, and then one day he battled the iguana in the mirror quite suddenly, bloodied his mouth and knocked out a few teeth in the battle. Now, he has gotten over it and once again pays no attention to it. Perhaps he thinks he kicked the **** out of that iguana and it's not worth another fight? LOL
It could be stressing him having it there. Generally they don't like any other iguanas in their territory

Thanks for all your points of view on this subject. It's very interesting. But, per your advise, I will remove the mirror from the enclosure. Not worth taking a chance on him suddenly changing his mind about the "other" ig. But, I do think he will still seek out the floor length mirror in my daughter's room. He just really seems to enjoy it, lol. And whenever I shut the door to her room, so he can't go in, he seems a bit disapointed.
I still am amazed at all the personality they express.
Thanks again for the opinions. Appreciate it.

Hello,
If he seeks out the mirror, then it was by choice. That makes a world of difference. ll I was going to say exactly what Merlin said. If he grows up and never has an issue with the reflections , great! If he decides one day that the "other" iguana looks like it wants to fight, you will see why they said keep it out of the enclosure. lol

Yes, he does seek out the mirror. That's why I ended up putting a little one in the enclosure with him. There's no way I would've just put a random mirror in there without knowing his reaction. He kept going to the bottom and scratching the door and banging his head against the plexi-glass till I come open the door for him and let him out(that's how he commands me, lol), and once out he'd go straight for my daughter's mirror and just hang out there. I was real nervous at first to let him see himself, because of what I had read, but he had no bad reactions to the mirror, in fact he liked it and kept wanting to go back, lol, and he loves to stop infront of the bathroom mirror on his way to the tub, (so I can tell him how handsome he is, lol). I think it's a vanity thing, lol, but then again if I was as cute as him, I might want to stare at myself too! But since I gave him his own mirror, he doesn't constantly ask to come out and when he does, he doesn't always head straight for my daughter's mirror now. Like he gets his fill now.

I'm not an Ig expert by any means but here's what my ig does.
When he comes out of this cage for freetime, the first place he goes is to the mirror on the wall below his favorite roosting spot. Looks at himself, turns around, and then when satisfied with the way he looks, he leaps off and lays on the curtain rod for the next few hours.
Now mine is just a 'baby' still (7 mos old) but i'm sure he'll probably change over time to the liking of the mirror. As he gets older and more hormone filled..lol
