Is This Wierd

I just got three new iguanas. They are all babies and pretty healthy. But for some reason when I tried to let my biggest of the babies see our other iguana, he started turning like almost black. It kinda creeps me out. So is this like a hostility thing or what is the deal? I'm so confused. Out of the 6 iguanas I've ever had he is the first to do this.

It sounds like a stress reaction to me. Iguanas are solitary creatures by nature and juveniles and adults do not associate with eachother. I would keep them apart.

Re: Is This Wierd

Well you see here is the weird thing the biggest of the babies only gets like that when he even gets a glimpse of the adult. All the other babies love the adult they climb on his back while he walks around it looks kinda funny. Yeah right now I have the three babies in a 50 gallon tank, but I'm planing on building an enclosure for them in my backyard. Then the other lizard the adult he is in a cage that is about 5 feet tall and 4 foot long, and he still growing.

THREE in a 50g tank?! You had better get on that new enclosure and fast, 50g isn't sufficient for one baby iguana.

Re: Is This Wierd

I'd keep the babies totally away from the grown. That grown IG could do some serious damage to the little ones.

Re: Is This Wierd

I know its not enough space for them, but its just a temp home for them now. You see the whole reason I bought three was my mom really wanted them and I've had quite a bit of iguanas so I'm kinda use to how to train them and stuff. I was just looking at one and my mom started making a scene and didn't want to break up a family. I'm kinda a sucker so I bought them and now I'm going to spend a lot of money to build a huge enclosure in my porch. I've decide that I'm not even gonna let to iguanas out while the other roams around the house.

Iguanas don't have "families".
They mate, the female goes away and eventually digs a nest and lays eggs.
Then she goes away.
Then the babies hatch and go their seperate ways.
You are taking a very big risk allowing an adult to have access to babies.
Its a catastrophe waiting to happen.
