Iggy Comparison

Okay, so we've had our iguana for about a month, maybe pushing two, and we have her in a great big home made cage, and she loves her basking area, eats normally, and enjoys baths. Last night our friend brought her older iggy over, he's fatter and a little longer with a shorter tail. Lucy loved it! She was a little iffy at first, giving him the "glare" like "why are you in my house?" but she warmed up to him and ended up crawling all over him and loving it. My question is is that Uboni (our friend's iguana) is a lot more active, and walked around a lot more, climbing all over the trees and moving around a lot, while Lucy likes to bask all day and stay in one spot unless FORCED (haha) to go and eat food. Will she become more active when she's slightly older? Is her enclosure too large? And also the other iguana's spikes are a lot lot lot shorter than Lucy's. Does this mean that possibly Uboni is a girl and Lucy is a boy?? Haha well sorry about this post being so long. I appreciate any responses

Re: Iggy Comparison

With a baby its difficult to tell sex.
And climbing all over each other doesn't necessarily mean they like each other but rather one is trying to be dominant over the other.
And your ig is in its own territory whilt the other is wandering around checking things out.
Be very careful allowing them to be in contact with each other. All it takes is a second and you have a serious fight on your hand!

Re: Iggy Comparison

Yeah we never left them alone. She really seemed to enjoy it though, not really wanting to dominate. But I could always be wrong.

Re: Iggy Comparison

iguana fights can be fatal to one, and they are definately no fun to try to break up,, a while back I was cleaning cages and forgot to close the door tightly on one of them, well I had a huge male in that one and a 2 year old out free roaming, within seconds it was like two dogs fighting, I am lucky noone was seriously hurt, including myself as I broke it up.

Re: Iggy Comparison

Like Merlin said, your friend's iguana was so active because s/he was exploring the new environment.

Lucy would do the same were she to visit Uboni's home.
