Rotten Little Buggers :P
I had friends coming over today (actually they are at my house now, and I am at work!), so yesterday I did my usual thorough "guest" cleaning of the whole house. It took me forever. And I ended the day by cleaning out and scrubbing the reptile cages, especially the iguana's. This was no maintenance cleaning. I wanted everything to sparkle extra shiny, because most people have a bad image of reptiles and I wanted to show mine off.
So what do I wake to (late) this morning, but the iguana's cage is thrashed. I mean just in shambles. Some time during the night or morning, he managed to tear out all the stones from the fountain, rip one of his fake plants to shreds, (He'd had that one for a little while, and I thought it might be safe from his wrath), poo all over the place... Really imagine the worst your iguana's cage has ever looked, then imagine leaving it that way for a week. That's what the cage looked like this morning. I was so upset.
I did the best with the cage this morning, but I was late getting up and I needed to get to work, so I couldn't do as good a job as I hoped.
I just know the first thing my guests will do will be to look at the "scary iguana who scarred my hand". (I gave them free run of the house while I'm at work.) I can't imagine what they will be thinking. I just hope they don't call animal control on me!

He just loves to give you heck, doesn't he? I'll clean all of my lizard cages a day in advance so I can touch anything up the next day if they destroy it, and by that time they have forgotten that they are angry at me for moving their cages around.

I wish. I think Don just bears grudges all the time. *sigh*
I'm happy to say that my guests were suitably impressed, though.

Re: Rotten Little Buggers :P
What an unfortunate incident Typhanie, and one that I know oh so well.
I clean Rex's "room" once a week. Right after I clean every surface, he visits it to make it 'his' once again. Pooping on every clean-smelling surface there is.
Times like these I remind him he could be a much easier-to-care-for STUFFED iguana. LOL
Glad to hear your guests were impressed!

Re: Rotten Little Buggers :P
lol, I am considering myseld lucky lately. My iguanas have not poo smeared their cages in a couple of weeks. I also have 5 of them tub trained so far
I do feel your pain though, I have had many of times I have come home to find something annoyed them and a FEW of them have poo smeared their entire cage, ughhh what a smell and a chore to clean up! They are so ungrateful, I like to remind them they would make a nice belt, new handbag, etc

Re: Rotten Little Buggers :P
LOL Isn't that just like them, kids would do the same. My mom used to come over and I'd be cleaning house, vacuuming through the living room, on into the hallway, and there would be my two little girls sitting in the middle of the floor I just vacuumed cutting up paper into teensy tiny little shreds, that only a vacuum cleaner could pick up!!! Mom would yell at me (in my 30's at the time) for allowing them to do that! Arrrgh, some days you just feel like throwing your hands up and screaming!

Hmmm... Now THERE'S and idea. A stuffed iguana has got to be less demanding!
Ha. Kids and iguanas are made from the same mould, aren't they? Stubborn and rotten.
