Iguana is MIA...
MIA is missing in action in case you didn't know...he seems to have a bad habit of escaping his tank when there is no food left and this time, he is really lost, usually he is either sleeping next to the tank on some new laundry, in the closet, or in between my bed and the wall...but I have turned my room upside down looking for him... Can they smell food? Or do they have to see it, I don't think he can fit under my door, but then again, I really don't know...
Can an iggy stand a chance against cats?

First of all I must reprimand you for not providing an escape proof enclosure. Sorry but someone had to say it. I'm assuming he is still small. It will depend on the cat whether they will attack him. If they are a housecat that doesn't get outside at all they probably won't. But you better find him as soon as possible. Don't forget to look up. That's where he'll feel more secure. Setup a basking light for him to find, and fix that enclosure.

How big is he? Have you just looked in your room. Can ya give us a bit more detail, lol. Make sure you look on top of things and under, in or above anything that is big enough for him to maneuver.

I will double that. It doesn't matter if you have to put a cinder block on top of the tank, or put a latch with a safety pin on the front. Perhaps your enclosure is also not big enough, making him want to get out!

Hello,
Iguanas are arboreal. As indicated, you should not just be looking down, but you should also be looking up. Small iglets will climb whatever will hold them. Look above windows where they could climb curtains. This is a common place to find them. If he can get in your closet, look on the clothes hanging or shelves that may be in there.
If your door was open, he could have progressed through the house in which case, you have a lot of looking to do. I would suggest clearing one room, and close the door behind you. This way, you can limit where the ig can go and you will know that the room was searched already.
You stated that he has gotten out of the enclosure before on several other occasions. This being the case, you should have taken measures to ensure it didn't happen again. Once you locate him, you should purchase a few tank clips if he resides in an aquarium. They clip to the sides preventing the lid from being removed.
Could you please post a picture of the enclosure? We may be able to help you with some security ideas to ensure that this escape was the last.
Good luck and keep us posted!

False alarm, I found him the next morning, he was indeed in my closet, but he was , lets see, you know how you hang up pants on a hanger and then a button down shirt as well, he was in between one of my suits in my closet...I didn't even notice him the first time I looked in my closet...I looked again and there he was sticking his head out
well, everything is back to normal.
I don't really mind letting him out, He mostly out all the time, espically now that it is a lot warmer out, he basks on my window sill in the sun(the window is open, with the screen.)

Window screening blocks out over 95% of the UV the sun is emitting. You need openings of at least 1/4" for uv to penetrate.
I am glad you found him. Now secure that lid! lol

I agree! Letting him out to roam when you are aware of it is fine. Having to go hunt him down when he escapes is not. There are too many ways for them to get into trouble, and they usually succeed in finding them!
And as you mentioned, the cat is a concern.

Also, as he gets older, his nails will tear the screen and then you'll REALLY freak about where he went.
Glad you found him this time, though!

I have a Solar Meter 6.2 and have done readings several times from a window, at different times of the day, with a window screen and without. My findings have shown that the UV is filtered only about 50% through a window screen. Am I reading something wrong?
