I found a way to make it eat rep-cal

I found a way to make my ig eat more rep-cal pellets. So if your ig wastes a lot of those pellets, you may be able to give this a try.

My ig does not automatically go for the rep-cal pellets. I usually mix soaked pellets in his food and some will get stuck and he accidentally eats some but a lot get wasted, so I have tried the following for a few days and he is now eating every bit.

Every morning, I wake up way early and soak a batch of rep-cal pellets for an hour or two. Then, I take whole leaves of veggies like mustard greens and choy sum and I place the rep-cal pellets which are now so soaked they crush easy, onto the leaves. I fold in half and press so they are smeared on the leaves. Then, WITHOUT unfolding, I cut the leaves up, so that it is now pieces of leaves, two pieces stuck together with repcal smeared in the middle like peanut butter. He eats every last bit now!

In a few days I am gonna try this with alfalfa pellets see if it works.

I also pour the soaked water onto the salad just in case a lot of the vitamins get soaked out. Maybe some is still lost I don't know. You think?

Interesting procedure there Anthony. Time and labor-intensive, but it seems to work. LOL

Well I dunno about adult igs because they eat more, but it doesn't really take that long to prepare for the amount of food a small ig eats. Really. Takes me an extra 10 mins or so. They don't go on all the leaves, just the ones on top and sticking out the sides so that he eats them first.

I never had a problem getting my ig to eat the pellets. In fact that is what she eats first.
I would try small amounts of the alfalfa pellets at first. My iguana hates the taste of them.

i'm sure it's not that time consuming, thats a good tip especially for those who rescue igs. and for those finicky eaters like mine was.
