Diet of Wild Iguanas

Since there are some iguana lovers here I have a question for you all. I know this sounds absurd but I have been seeing some pics of iggys that are roaming around in some of the FLA cities like Miami/Ft Lauderdale etc. I also found them running around everywhere in the city of Cancun, Mex last year. So what do they eat in these places? Do they just eat leaves and grass?
I always thought they ate several fruits but there was no fruits in Downtown Cancun (except in the markets). The lizards looked very healthy and had great color too them. In fact I was amazed at how much better they looked than MOST captive specimens. Of course most captive specimens are in pet shops and more than likely no kept right.

Actually they eat all the native flowering plants and leaves...causing a lot of problems for Floridians...and also pooping all over...swimming in people's pools (and pooping in them). They have become a nuisance all because some people released these creatures and the climate happens to be good for them. I believe Burmese pythons are also having a go at it down there....( I rather the iguanas myself..) Lyn
