Some of the winter squash is so tough to grate by hand, I use a salad shooter to do it for me... much easier!

I wont buy acorn or kabotcha (?) squash because it's so darned hard to grate, but it's been a few years and I'm a lot stronger now so maybe I should try again.
Butternut is definitely the staple squash in this household.

Those are both tough... even to cut up, but the salad shooter makes it waaaayyy easier to grate them. I'm a huge fan of the humble salad shooter!

Try Delicata (sp?)... Gil loves it! I'm growing some in the garden, but not sure when they'll be ready.

Re: What to Feed a Baby Iguana?

I use the food processor to grate squash and parsnips. I found the grating blade works best. I make a big bin of food that lasts about four days and if I grate the hard veggies with the course grating blade they stay drier than grinding them up with the chopping blade. They don't rot and turn to mush and they mix in with the greens better. Critter seems to like them better that way too.
I used to peel the squash til I started reading here not too. And I use banana squash mostly or butternut.

Re: What to Feed a Baby Iguana?

I bought a refurbished food processor from the local dollar store for $10.00. It has only one blade(Puree), but it's great for young ig's!

Check the brand's website... you may be able to get other blades still. I have a salad shooter, and and found a large grating blade... better for large igs like Gil.
