Re: Not Eating...

Iguanas may take a few days to eat regularly. Ira didn't eat for a few days when I first got him home. Don't stress Day one. Tweak is really stressed and will take a while to adjust, keep offering food and remember iguanas don't store fats well, so little guys can look really skinny really fast, keep presenting food and give him a few days. If he is still not eating in a week, take him to a herp vet and get him checked out.

You might try putting some fruit on top to intrigue him to check it out, but don't try to make him eat, give him time to adjust. The best thing I can tell you to do is check all the specs (temp humidity etc), and just give him space.

Re: Not Eating...

And give him some privacy. New igs do not want to be looked at while they are eating.
Another thing to consider is that they don't store fat in their bellies but in their tail and legs. So one good poop and the belly looks skinny again.

Re: Not Eating...

Give it time, Dizzy has been with me for four years and he didn't eat for a week when we last moved him. Granted he is very large and very healthy so I just told him to quit pouting and eat or i'd be forced to make him into stew.

What are your temps and humidity?

Re: Not Eating...

well I coverred the sides of the cage so Tweak cant see me. It seems to be working, S(he) is basking instead of hiding all the time and now s(he) is eating a little, I cant tell how much but Tweak is not as skinny now.

Re: Not Eating...

Well that's good to hear. I don't own any iguanas but have owned other herps and the key thing is patients.
