Ig not eating as much as usual

I'm not overly worried at the moment but was just wondering whether any1 tell me whether it is usual for an ig to not eat as much at certain times of the year. George usually eats about 3 kids plates full of food a day but recently he's only eatin about 1.
Like i've said i'm not overly worried. He is eatin, going toilet regularly and shedding well. Nothings changed in his environment his temps are what they've always been. About 98f at basking point cooling to around 77f at the coolest point. Humidity fluctuates between 60/70%. The only thing we can think of is that the temperature has dropped out side as we approach winter. Could this be it??

It can. Many igs can slow down this time of the year due to weather changes.
We are also in the breeding season and males particularly may have other things on their mind than food!

Do you mind if I ask a few questions?

What you are feeding him? Also, is he in a cage on his own, or is he housed with another iguana? Has his enclosure, undergone any major changes lately, or has the family changed or moved?

I wouldn't worry to much unless it carries on.
my Ig has also once or twice not finished her normal size feeding but then the next day she carries on as if nothing changed.

Re: Ig not eating as much as usual

Hi
Typhanie the answers to your questions:

we feed George spring greens (collard greens) watercress, rocket, butternut squash, snap peas, bell pepper, parsnip, mango. in that order more or less. He is on his own and nothing major has gone on lately in his cage or at home.

He has calmed down tho when we bring him out now. If it coninues for too long i'll take him to the vets to get him checked.

Oh and roughly at wot age do they begin to get funny around the breeding season? Apparently(?) he should be about 10 months old, according to wot we were told by the shop, he's about 29inches nose to tip of tail and roughly 9inches from snout to vent. (Thats if my tape measure is correct!)

Re: Ig not eating as much as usual

Well, there go my theories. (Being fed the wrong things, or changes in the environment are big reasons why igs suddenly stop eating.)

Give him a few days, see if anything changes. Probably it's nothing.
