Is there somewhere I can read more about the signs? I have a feeling my little guy (he's really not so little, but he's still my baby) is approaching this as his behaviour seems very different recently.

Okay, this may not be the right forum, but I want to see if you can tell me what it is that I have take a picture of. Indy was by his food, so I went to see if he was actually eating and I noticed that he had pooped. When I went to clean that out, I found this (in the picture). I have been looking online and I can't find anything that really looks the same. It has a mushy, but not squishy texture. I decided to put a few pics of him on here as well. Let me know if you see anything that I don't. Of course, the pics aren't the best as he would not pose, chosing to find trouble instead!

I found Melissa Kaplan's site to be very helpful. http://www.anapsid.org/iguana/index.html

Thanks for the help and the ID!

Of course...

the help that I have gotten right off of this site has been much easier to find and much more personal. If you look, you'll probably find your answers here as well.

Also...

I was going to add, to my first post (in a huge hurry, sorry) that he has been eating the leaves and they are "new." Is that was has caused this addition to his poop?

Congratulations, it's a boy! What you have there is commonly referred to as a 'sperm plug' It's a 100% sign that he's male and it is probably a sign that he is going to be going into season. Don't be suprised if he tries to mate with your favorite slippers and leaves more of that goo behind!

Yeah

That's what I was afraid the response was going to be from you! lol It may be okay though. I mean, unless this is the first sign that things are going to get bad, they have been pretty good so far. I haven't seen any change in his attitude and, actually, he seemed friendlier when he was out last night than he has been before. Or is this the calm before the storm?

Some iguanas are hardly effected by mating season, he might be alright this year since he hasn't really be there that long and doesnt have his territory fully established. I would just be careful, my boy is headed into season at full steam and im paying for it with shredded arms and welts.

Okay...will there only be one of these plugs or can there be more? I really want to say that there was one when I first cleaned up after him, when he first got here. Unfortunately, I knew less then than I do now and didn't pay much attention. My first experience with iguana poo was not enjoyable! Is that possible or is this deja vu?

Second, does this explain the discoloration that has taken place on the tips of his spikes? I mentioned it the other day, that it appeared at bath time, and it hasn't gone away. It was thought to be stress related. Is it possible it is a color change due to the breeding season?

Where there is one plug there will be more. My boy leaves one every time he goes, october through about march. The coloring could be stress, or season, or just natural color change. it's hard to say witout seeing it.
