Pac Man Questions

Ok so I've had my Pac Man for about 2 months now. He is in a smaller container atm untill I get him his new terrarium and fogger which will mos likely be today. The past few days he has been burrowed not only under the moss but also the coco, all you see is his eyes if you lift the moss. It seems normal the only thing that made me want to make sure hes ok is because its a big change from his normal. Since I've had him he had only burrowed under the moss and where you could still see all of him. He would move around the container every other day knowing thats when his food came. Now hes been hiding deep and not eaten in 3 days.The humid is 80% for the most part and temp is 78. I moved the heat pad to the side of the container instead of under where it was because I read on here they burrow to cool off. I figured it being under maybe made it to warm under there. Any info would be great since im a new frog owner and love it so much! Maybe its fine but never hurts to ask. Ill put the only photo I have atm from when I first got it.

Got it in a new set up today. Just ate a worm and now seems pretty chill. Any ideas of some stuff to add to make it feel more like home? Maybe some live plants around the bowl and what not? Im new to this so any ideas help. Also whats a good way of getting the temp above 80 or is that fine? Heres 2 photos of the new home. Fogger coming soon.

you need the temp up around 85. 78 is too cold. How are you heating the tank? You need to be heating the tank from the top, not the bottom.

Ditch the moss, it's a HUGE impaction risk. All you need is coconut shred. If you want him to have a little more cover, add a fake ivy or other type of plant. You want a good 4-5 inches of dirt in there.

Get yourself a good digital thermometer. Those dial ones are very inaccurate, plus they need to be at the BOTTOM of the tank, where your frog hangs out.

Don't worry about a fogger Waste of money. Just cover up the vents in the top of the tank to hold humidity. Keep the ground nice and wet and provide a water dish for soaking. That's all he needs.

As for the burying... welcome to the world of owning a pacman. Mine is underground almost half the year. Sometimes I feel like I own a tank of dirt. He sleeps a good 4-6 of the winter months. They are up when they are juveniles and need more food because they are growing, but once they are adults, the eating machines are gone and they sleep A LOT. Lazy little blobs they are. Don't dig him up. The more you let him sleep when he wants, the longer he'll live. Don't force feed, don't remove his protective cocoon he builds himself when he goes under. It's a good way to kill your frog.

Currently just the undertank heater atm. I have some lights i can use what bulb should i use? Im using a a normal bulb for daylight, it used to be for my bonsai tree.

A Under Tank Heater is totally useless. It may warm the tank up by 5 degrees when stuck on the side. I use a 40 watt house hold lightbulb placed over one side, water dish in the center. His lack of movement may be caused by the cooler than ideal temps too. You may find him more active (for a pacman) when things warm up.

So if i use a 40 house hold bulb it will take the heat up to where i need it? What about for night time. Infer red? Instead of the fogger maybe ill get the topper for lighting. Are there any goos live plants to make it look nicer?

the bulb you need will depend on the size of the tank and the ambient temp at night. my house is chilly so i need a 40 watt, i also have a 20 gallon tank. If your house is warmer and your tank is smaller, you may only need a 25 watt bulb. My house goes down to 67 degrees at night, which is fine for them. If your house is 67 or warmer, there is no need for night heat.

Pathos are a great plant. The vines will grow everywhere. I usually score extra cuttings from work.

Its a 12x12x12 terrarium. My room prolly never drops below 75 because its small and heat its off and on cause its winter here in mn. Ill check the plants out. I want it to look nice. Its baby first frog and i love it! Also a first time baby corn snake owner. Thanks for your help

I removed the moss like you said but left a tiny bit in the corner untill i get some plants for hiding. I also added more coco for digging (2" more ) i currently have the temp between 80-85 closer to 85. A lot better than the 78 it was at. Hes out atm looking around so lets see how he likes it. Ill keep you updated .

So he burrowed deep after about five min of me fixing the terrairum yesterday. I wont up this morning and the temp in there said it was high 60s. Might be because i closed my air vents last night causw i was hot. I hear him making noises under the dirt and hope hes ok :/. Can i use a infer red at night for some heat and what watt.
