New Albino Pacman Owner

I went to a reptile show this past weekend and had every intention of "just looking" :o I should have known better...but oh well...she (at least I think it is a she...I haven't heard any noises/sounds being made by "her" and was told if a male, they make the sounds pretty early.) is an Albino pacman frog (about the size of a Quarter, and she is weighing 11 grams). I currently have her in a 10 gallon tank with papertowel as a substrate... I have been misting the cage 2 times a day and I refill the water dishes daily..I have been feeding her nymph dubia's and was basically just wondering about how much/many she should be eating??..I have been offering her the dubia daily, and she REALLY lunges at them when I drop them in her cage near her...I drop them in one at a time and I see her eat 3 or so, then she doesn't lung for them anymore...should I only give her the 2/3?? or should I drop a couple more in there so she can eat later on??
I have attached a few pics of her and one shows a dubia in front of her, so you can see the size of the ones I give to her..
Considering this is my first pacman, (and first Frog of any kind actually) I would really appreciate seeing the set-ups/enclosures of other successful owners and hearing any advice or suggestions.

I just wanted to congratulate you on the new addition! I will allow those with experience to respond to the actual questions.

Once you get a poop or two and its not runny, ditch the paper towel and put in coco-fiber as deep as your little one is tall. my setup is simple. Water dish, coco-fiber, light bulb for heat and pothos plant i keep well trimmed. NO UVB for albinos. Be sure to calcium supplement every other feeding while they are juvies.


Its too early to tell if its male or female. About the size of a silver dollar someone should make noise.

glad to hear its a good eater. Just feed as many as it will eat in a 10 minute period. Don't leave anything in the tank. I would take a sample for a fecal. Every pacman I have owned has been riddled with parasites and needed treatment.

Thank you for the suggestions and comments.... The fecal sample is something I will certainly do......I have just now added a pothos plant, and am basically wondering if the lightbulb should be over the side of the tank that has the water dish?? or over the side that will have the substrate?? (right now, 1/2 of the tank is the water dishes and stones, and the other 1/2 is paper towel only.....Isabella has never been over on that side at all)......I figured once she has gotten settled in and I know her poo is formed, I will put the substrate on that 1/2 of the enclosure...basically wondering which side the bulb should be on??

ideally you should offer both a warm and a cool side for them to bury in. Is it possible to put the water dish in the middle of the tank and then substrate on both sides? They don't require a huge dish.

Good idea,...I will rearrange the set-up once I add the eco-earth substrate to the enclosure..right now I have 2 small water dishes and I will move those to the middle of the enclosure..once he gets bigger, I will probably replace the 2 smaller ones for one larger....(or possibly keep 2 dishes and just make both of them larger.).
(and on a side-note, I had to laugh last night when my ex dropped off our son and my son asked ..."Mom, can I show my pet frog to Dad and can he pet him???....at first I was so tempted to say "Sure,.... go right ahead,.... and make sure to put your finger real close to his mouth, they like that alot"...instead...my reply was..."no, that's not a good idea, you can take him to your room to show him the frog, but you don't ever need to "pet" this frog....and just for the record, it's a good idea to keep your fingers AWAY from this frog at all times, especially when he is hungry.."
I had no idea how quickly I would become attached to this little guy/girl...although he doesn't move alot, he sure moves quickly when he is lunging for his food.....and he sure is cute to look at..

right now it looks like I'm keeping two tanks full of dirt. They both ate and went back under again.

Good call on the education to your child. When these guys get older, their bite can actually cause damage.

In the future, if you want to save yourself a little cash (for additional herps of course), I purchase candy dishes, servers for sauces and dips, soap dishes, and planter saucers to use as "pools" or water dishes. The dollar store has tons of stuff to repurpose!

yep, my Whites Tree Frog tank has a pie plate in it for their dish. Picked it up at a yard sale for 50 cents.
