Pacman Too Thin? Tips on Getting Him to Eat More?

My cranwali seems to have grown, but has also seem to have lost a little weight. He's a picky eater. Won't eat when I'm around. He has eaten one pinkie and it was only after I left the room for an hour and left him in the dark. I tried again about 2 weeks after on another pinkie and he wanted nothing to do with it. He will eat the occasional cricket. Won't eat worms and they don't stick around like the pinkie does. He once ate a cricket from a tong.

Tips? Should I be worried?

Here is Meatball on the 10th of April

Today

Forgot to add, its a 10 gallon tank, water dish, temps around 75 - 80, humidity around 60 - 70%. Little bit of planting in it. He's pooping, but not much and its solid.

How big do pacman frogs get?
I just figured you'd know..
Someone said they get the size of a dinner plate.
Is that true?

Re: Pacman Too Thin? Tips on Getting Him to Eat Mo

hahaha they definetaly don't get as big as a dinner plate! They get about the size of a man's palm, maybe a bit bigger.

I was having the same problem with my snackpack and unfortunently I lost the little guy =[

He needs to start eating soon because he is very skinny, about the same size as snackpack about a month before he died.

You could try putting him in a container with about three cirx and let him be for an hour or so in the dark. The crix with be close to him and he'll have a better chance at catching them.

That's about all I can come up with because when I was looking for help that's all I got. Hopefully somebody else can come in with some ideas to help you out.

Re: Pacman Too Thin? Tips on Getting Him to Eat Mo

I'll be picking up a pinkie mouse tomorrow and I'll try to get him to eat it.

I tried putting him in a container with crickets, but he just flops around and stresses out too much to eat.

For the worm, I was thinking of taking a tupperware container and cutting the bottom out. This will create a pen. Then I can surround meatball in the tank and drop the worm in. Hopefully he'll eat it.

The true Argentine horned frogs get to be the size of a dinner plate. This is a Cranwali which get to be about the size of a baseball. I'm also going to bump the temps up a little.

Sorry Liz you are our resident amphibian expert, I don't have anything to tell you that you don't already know.

Re: Pacman Too Thin? Tips on Getting Him to Eat Mo

I might move up on prey size as well. Either a really big pinkie, or a small fuzzie. I do know that if Meatball doesn't eat it, one of my other piggie frogs will. It was also suggested to me to try a few roaches. So I'll see if my good store sells those when I pick up the mouse.

You might also try some feeder goldfish.

Re: Pacman Too Thin? Tips on Getting Him to Eat Mo

I thought about the goldfish, but he is NEVER in his water dish EVER. I guess he gets enough moisture from the soil.

Maybe them swimming around in the water dish would get his attention?
