I am wanting to aquire a female pacman. AKA Argentine wide mouth AKA argentine horned.
My local pet store just had three babies arrive. One is brown striped, one is mostly green striped with a little brown, the third is mostly brown striped with a little green.

Do these colors have anything to do with sex? It seems the one with the most green is the smallest.
My understanding so far is that the females get larger and live longer.

I have a pac man and the only way I know how to sex them is wether they call or not. Ive been told only the males call, and they will have a darker throut. I do not know if its the inside or outside of the throut tho... The females do get larger, wether they live longer or not I havent a clue. Either sex you wind up with. I guarentee it will have its own cool little personality. And if you wind up with a male... Youll have a frog that quacks... well barks... but it sounds like quacking...

colors mean nothing. There are a few who debate on the sex by the shape of its nose, but some have been proven wrong. Check out Fat Frogs Forums :: Index for a forum specifically on these guys.

i think the pefect name for a female pacman frog would be oprah..lol,i use to have a male a loong time ago named fat albert xD lol

Females will generally reach a larger size, but as juveniles there's no way to sex them. Males are capable (though not always willing) of calling, while females are not. And there may be slight physical differences in the exterior of the throat in males vs females, but again, all these clues are only there as adults.
