Horned frogs specific questions

Hi, I have a little challenge for you guys to find ''impossible'' information about the horned frog. I searched on the net for it's anthropic threats and it's protection device against predator. I simply don't find them... I'm just wondering if you guys happened to know something about these:

1- Anthropic threats which plane on the natural ecosystem and the habitat.

2- Protection measures of the amphibian.

For #2, dont horned frogs or any frogs for that matter excrete a poison of sorts out of their pores....which can cause illness and even death to some predators??? hmmmm

Re: Horned frogs specific questions

Many amphibians contain some poison...most to a minimal degree. I don't think horned frogs do though, or if they do it doesn't do much. Lyn's link is correct though, horned frogs are one of the few frogs that will bite as a defense. Though they don't have true teeth, they do have bony ridges and a strong jaw. It's quite surprising to be bitten by one! They will also inflate their bodies to become hard to swallow, or stay buried during the day to avoid confrontation altogether.

A more down-to-earth explanation of #1 may yield better responses

Re: Horned frogs specific questions

Thxs everyone. I found everything I needed.

The Ceratophrys cornata is searched for the pet shops and for scientic research for it's rumored poison. For the defense, this specie will be really aggressive and courageous when it feels armed or attacked. It will attack it's predator! They don't really move and when it comes to dinner, they will wait underground for it :P
