    Looking for Snake Cages

Does anyone know where I can get some built or used cages that I don't have to spend 300-500 a piece on?
I have 2 coastal carpet pythons that are about 4 ft long and I need separate cages for them or one huge cage that I can divide.

Talk to a local cabinet maker or school VoTech woodshop about building what you need.
Look in thrift stores for peices of furniture that you can convert.
Check out garage and yard sales.

Even go around on "big trash pickup" days looking for shelves, dressers, etc that you can convert.
You would be amazed what you can find,...and it's FREE!

Make them yourself! it is not that hard...plus you can actually make it a better quality enclosure plus the exact dimension you would want.
Right now probably in a plane somewhere or trekking through a jungle...see ya'll soon! Watch your back :D

Sometimes there are tropical fish enthusiasts that have large aquariums,(ie;75,100, 125 gal.) that have developed leaks. The expense to repair them is very high, or to do it yourself is extremely labor intensive. Most people try to spread more silicone sealant over the leak. WRONG! Silicone doesn't stick to silicone, and the leak just starts again.(You have to remove all the old sealant and rebuild the entire tank). A large leaky tank is no good for fish, but great for reptiles. They'll have a lot of room.

Exactly: they look nicer, they hold heat better, and they are better dimensions for coastal carpets. Just be sure to seal the inside really well to protect against splinters, urine, and mold or mildew.
The most I have ever spent is the 30-40 dollars on the plexi-glass and thumb screws. You can even use the furniture to set stuff on...
    Just no T.V.'s please...aaggghhrr.

    Re: Looking for Snake Cages

Thanks everyone for the help. I am going to make something for now but I have a guy that actually has a lot of cages and stuff from craigslist that he tried to sell. He says he has about 5000 dollars worth of cages and other reptile items that he still has since he closed down his business and says he would take 500 for it all. So, once I see the stuff I may just pick it all up for that price. He says he has a few that are made of melamine or something that is in showcase condition and they range from 4f to 8 ft.

    Re: Looking for Snake Cages

Melamine tanks are no fun! All melamine is, is saw dust glued together and covered by laminate sheets. If water gets anywhere near a cut edge (ie any corners in the tanks) or if it somehow gets scratched and the laminate seal is broken, it will fall apart. It is also VERY heavy.

Other than that, congrats on your find!
