Post-shed pics!!
Well, here she is! I was a bit disappointed that she shed in pieces, especially since I kept the humidity levels up. It all came off fine, but I was hoping for one piece...
Isn't she beautiful???
I'm not sure what the white stripe is on her head... I thought it would come off with the shed, but now I think it looks like a scar... all the scales along that area are gone. It doesn't bother me (or her as far as I can tell), but I wonder how she got it. Like I said, I got her 6 weeks ago at age 3 or 4 years; so I don't know what her history is. She was being fed live and F/K alternatively, so I'm wondering if a rat bit her there... any ideas???

She is stunning BlackJack!!! Absolutely gorgeous!
Our two are still young - just coming up to a year old - and so haven't quite got that striking sheen to them yet, and they are darker than your girl, but still beautiful,. Talyn is so light and pretty! .. What can I say, i'm in love!

Gorgeous!
That does look like a scar to me. As thin as it is it may disappear over successive shedding and then again it may not. IMO it still does not detract from the beauty of the snake!

She's a Brazilian Rainbow Boa. There are 9 or 10 sub-species of Rainbow boas and I believe they all have these tiny microscopic ridges on their scales that refract the light and create these irridescent rainbow effects.
I personally think the Brazilian Rainbow Boas are prettier than the Columbian... but I could be biased
Thanks Merlin; I'm glad you still think she's beautiful, in spite of her scar. I think it adds a bit of character... but I also wouldn't be sorry if it disappeared eventually!

I agree! The Brazilians seem to have a lot more color to them. The columbians always seemed rather drab comparatively.
As far as the irridescence, almost all the boid group will have it to one degree or another if they are in good health and good light. A beautiful bluish sheen. If fact that is one of the hallmarks of being in tip top shape!

Ok, I can't take it anymore. I've seen too many pics of your rainbow. I have now officially added a Brazilian Rainbow Boa to my wish list.
