speaking of biting, i went to a different petshop I haven't been to before yesterday, the lady had two 4 month old niles that were probably around a foot and a half long. Anyways she was charging 49 bucks for them as oposed to the 70 I paid for my baby. But then I tried to pick one up, and it automatically tried to crap on me, and bite me(i actually had to wrestle with it so I could hold it safely.) Well anyways the funny thing about this is, i only asked her one question about them. "have you held these at all?" and she said nope, even my husband won't touch them" Its actually kinda sad because as mean as my nile can be, I hold him ever day twice a day, and he is actually starting to tolerate it and calm down. im hoping that since im handling him every day like a religion, and feeding him at the exact same time i'll stay on his good side and hopefully get a less agressive adult. Though even if he turns out to be a big ****ed off lizard im still gonna enjoy taking care of him, He's just too ****** pretty to automatically get rid of him because he got big and mean. I'm pretty lucky at this point that I live out on a ranch style property where I can keep something like this. im going to be happy to accomadate him with a large enclosure when he gets big. Its actually the main reason I bought him. "look don't touch" pets are fine with me also, just look at people that do the saltwater aquariums and have large moray eels and lion fish. Anyways I did think it kinda sucks that lady even has the gull to sell such underhandled lizards, because someones gonna be stupid enough to buy them at that age and they'll never be able to make them handleable.

Its good that you are handeling him everyday..even if he does bite, you have to think about it this way: if youre gonna own reptiles youre gonna eventuallly be bitten. weather its on purpose or not..its bound to happen. And as for the petstore not handleing the niles its an all to common thing. Hopefully when a customer decides they want to purchase one the owner will attempt to handle it and the customer will see how vial the monitors temper is...and that will change their mind
