Pics: Python Pretzel, anyone? Part One
Usually I don't feed any of our snakes in their enclosures, but today Ky-Lin, our Children's Python, must have been super-hungry because she started snapping before I got her moved to the feeding tub. She snapped the middle of the mouse's body with her mouth and rolled....she wound up with the mouse's head totally inaccessible, and she was squeezing so hard that the mouse's rear end was way too fat to start swallowing there... She had wrapped her tail around the base of my thumb and had let go of the mouse with her mouth, and was investigating anything and everything as potential mouse looking for the darn thing's head, and my thumb was in immediate danger of accidentally getting munched. As quickly as I could, I got her back to her enclosure where there was more room to manage her, unwrapped her tail from my thumb, stood back and watched. With my thumb out of the picture, nothing was moving anymore, so she just sat tightly coiled in a pretzel knot, unmoving for about 30 minutes....thinking about her predicament...
hmmmm....now what do I do?
Then she finally started moving her head around to try and find a solution:
Is its head over here?
Or could it be this way?
Let's try back around this way...
... Will Ky-Lin find the answer? stay tuned for Python Pretzel, anyone? Part Two...

LOL, Juliane
Just a piece of advice, you might want to move her to the feeding bucket FIRST and then introduce the mouse... It's lucky she caught and "pretzeled" the mouse instead of your finger! (NOW THAT would be a predicament and a half!)
I look forward to reading the other two posts!!

Heh...problem is, she seems to smell mouse the minute I put them in the water to thaw, even though they're in the kitchen and she's in another room! So when I reach in to take her out of her enclosure, she is already in "mouse-mode" and is very likely to make a mistake if I don't hurry. That's why I try to have the mouse ready in the bucket already...so I can point her to it as quickly as possible!
