Kenyan Sand Boa - Link

Here are some images of my friendly (unless you are a pinky rat) Kenyan Sand Boa, Nyoka. BE WARNED: There are feeding pictures on the page. Thanks for looking. Always liked ground boas and love the color of this one.

I had actually gone into the local pet store to look for a rosy boa because of the coloring as a birthday gift to myself. Just could not pass Kenyan Sand Boa up after holding it and seeing the colors. It went into my shirt pocket and stayed there for the ride home. Of course, they have another Kenyan at the pet store now. Much smaller than Nyoka, but colors are very similar. And it needs to be handled more because it likes to nip.

Those are awesome pics and you have a very beautiful snake! I may be getting one of these or a rosy boa instead of a ball python! About how long does you're buddy slither out in the open every day?

Time out exploring

Will not kid you and say that a great deal of time is spent out during the day. Ground boas tend to be nocturnal. Nyoka seems to be pretty active in the mornings and evenings lately. On average I probably find him hanging out, usually trying to see if the cover clips are attached, on average of two to three hours during daylight. I bring him out in the evenings for at least an hour (usually more) of social time per day as well.

i might be mistaken but I think the sand boas are similar to rosys in size. and from what i've read on many different sites and a book on rosys and ground boas that I have a 4 foot one is a big one. they get anywhere from 2-4 feet. just posting what I found. my rosy is about 2 1/2 feet right now.
