Crawfish Frog

Here are photos of crawfish frogs, Rana areolata, we collected 31 March 2005 in Labette County, KS.

Those frogs are really neat looking! You find the coolest stuff! Maybe I should go out and turn rocks more often huh? lol

Cool looking frogs. Did you keep them or just catch, photograph and release them?

Yes, my date was off. I was posting this last night, and I knew I had caught them that day. I looked at my computer date and apparently it was after midnight, so it threw me off.

These specimens are headed to the collection at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, KS.

Diet could be partly to blame, but I believe its mostly because they often inhabit crayfish burrows.
