Just got my confirmation today. The large female crawfish frog shown is not only the new Kansas state size record, but also the new world record size for the species.

Eventually it can be found here Journal of Kansas Herpetology

They show up 1 year after publication.

You could also join the Kansas Herpetological Society HERE and get them as they are published.

Otherwise, if it is not beaten before then, it will show up as the maximum size for the species in the next Peterson Field Guide.

This is my 4th state record and 2nd world record. I also have state record for common snapping turtle and false map turtle, and maximum size for the species for five-lined skink.

Whats special about this one is that this is the first time I have ever found this species.

Five-lined skink, Eumeces fasciatus, record was 8 5/8".

When I found him he was copulating with a female, so I grabbed em both. The temp was about 55F, it was after dark, and I was fishing. I started turning rocks around my lantern and found a total of 5 Five lined skinks. It was early April about 7 years ago.

Well bad news on the crawfish frog. Another larger specimen was caught just days after mine, so mine will never be published as the new record. That happened once before on a state record. Its irritating, but thats life.
