Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
It's gorgeous, just like my Kah. Actually, they almost look identical, except that mine is a bit bigger. Right now though, he's really dark, not sure why. I'm thinking it is because of the weather fronts that have been coming in.
Thank you for posting the pictures. Your snake really is beautiful! ![]()

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
I'm assuming this is from breeding a hogg island to a colombian "redtail". Interesting combination, and a great looking snake. About what size do they usually take after, the hogg island boa, or the columbian boa?

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
Thats the problem with hybrids.
You never know which "side of the family" that they are going to take after regarding adult size.

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
usually hybrids take the "larger" genes. Not a steadfast rule tho :P

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
I'm pretty sure that Kah takes after the Hog Island side. At least he does with the colors. He is only about a year and four months or so, so I don't know about size, but from the looks of it, he takes after the Hog Island on that as well.

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
Some very incredible looking animals can be had from a hybrid between species, however, I personally think it should be regulated, a pedigree system in place with each hybrid animal being sold/breed, With a responsible keeper there is little issue, but in the wrong hands hybrids could essentially pollute the bloodlines of the true snakes,
but regardless, he/she sure is a great looking snake.

Re: Hogg Island/Columbian Cross
This one takes the "Hogg" side. The pics I posted are a few years old. He is nearly six years old now and is still shy of 4 feet long. My Peruvian and Suriname are not even 1/2 his age and both of them are close to 5 feet already. I doubt he is going to get much bigger, I'm thinking 4 to 4 1/2 feet max.
