Elvis the Crested Gecko
Here are some pics of Elvis. We just adore him! I'm a little concerned he may not be eating enough, though. He weighs 4 grams (I think -- don't know how accurate my scale is at such small weights) and is about 3.5 inches long, snout to tail. He seems to ignore his dish of mashed fruit mixed with Sandfire Crested Gecko Diet. (It's on the floor of the viv -- maybe I should find a way to keep it higher up?) I have gotten him statrted on crickets (which I dust with CGD), and he seems to be into them -- he eats a couple of small cricket every night/every other night.
Does he look OK to you? ![]() ![]() ![]()

Do you still have the piece of driftwood I gave you? If so theirs a few "holes" in it that I used to put mashed fruit in, give him some banana, its his fav
. Just not too much, potassium binds the absorption of calcium. He looks like hes gotten fatter since hes been with you ![]() |

He looks great! How thick are you mixing the food? I've had mixed success with stuff like that at my store, but I find that if its thicker (like overcooked oatmeal) they seem to like it better. I've also added a little bit of sweet potato baby food to the mix and then they go to town on it. It also helps bring out their full color. The other advantage to a thicker food is you can often see the lick marks in it so then you KNOW they are eating it. If they aren't touching it just try new ingredients.

Thanks, everybody. I may add some sweet potato for him, and try a thicker mix. I'll also try placing the food higher.
He is awfully cute, isn't he. ![]()
