Wow, an A1? Cool. Film scares the pants off of me, I do all of my shots entirely digital. I've found that the Sony H1 is a fair priced camera with a good macro setting if you are looking for a cheap digital that is good for pet pictures I'm using my H1 for all of my herp photos until I get my macro lens for my rebel!

I've had my A1 since 1984, I think. Right now, it needs cleaned and gone over by a professional. Then I stick on my 70-210 macro-zoom lense and take real close-ups of the FBTs.

You have had your A1 longer than I have been alive I'd love to see some of your other macro shots, I love macro photos!
