Ah what a dandy find: I over did it with pictures..

Ok, before you gander at the short video, I warn you about sounding a bit funny.

Anyway, here's a few pictures and a video of me stumbling upon a mother alligator with 9 or so young alligators while making my rounds testing water temps, oddities and looking for alligators and cottomouths.

I find it a little fascinating as I have never encountered a wild alligator tending to her young, and she followed me all of the 50 or so feet from one end of her clearing to the other. I found about 8 or 9 hathclings all along the way. I sat and watched them for about 30 minutes watching the young eat and catch fish and grasshoppers and one take on a frog that's a bit bigger than his head.

Enjoy.

And the video.
http://media.putfile.com/Alligator-pod I think this will work, if not copy and paste.

Cool! I think an alligator following me might make me downright nervous! I know next to nothing about alligators but a little about disturbed mothers with babies...

Great looking gators, they look just like the ones all over huntington beach, we have'm all over, and every year we get one on campus wandering around.

Really neat. The baby pictures are like "where's waldo". It took me a couple of seconds to spot them.

I thought I was alone with the same thought.

Did the pics come out ok? I keep getting a couple that are high with the fuzziness.
