Pregnant Painted Turtle in need of HELP

I'm really hoping someone can help me and my female painted turtle. I've had her for 6 years and I'm worried she's in major trouble!

This year is the first year that she is laying eggs. She laid one successfully, but has had the second egg stuck in her vaginal canal (if that's what it's called in turtles) for 3 days now. You can see the tip of the egg, but nothing seems to be happening. She won't eat, she just lays out of water constantly. What should I do? Do I just leave her be and hope everything follows as nature's planned? Or do I take things into my own hands? I cannot find a vet in the local area that sees reptiles, so I feel like I'm out of luck in the professional world.

Please help!

Have you tried soaking her in some warm water? I know that helps some herps. Where are you located, maybe we can help you find a vet.

I have not tried that. She's spends the majority of her time in the sand box I put in the tank. How warm do you think the water should be?

I live in northwestern Wisconsin. I guess it must not be common enough to have reptiles for pets in our climate.

I would def do my best to get her to a vet. The warm water should help a bit make it about 80-83 deg. Good luck with your turtle and let us know who everyhting turns out!

Make sure the water is warm and there is a warm moist hide for her to drop the eggs. If there is no place suitable for egg laying,,,,she will not lay the eggs.
