BallPython..URI?
I think Prydator possibly has a URI. I noticed him cruising the tank with his mouth open a couple of times this week and just thought he was maybe fixin his jaws. Well last night I heard this god awful sound (like when your kids get croop cough) and come to find out it was coming from him. Hopeing to get a vet appt today to have him checked out . Does this sound like a URI? I have increased his temps also.

Ooh, sorry to hear that Marsha. It does sound like most of the symtoms.
The biggest sign of an URI (upper respitory infection) is a snake with a constantly open mouth, visible mucus in the mouth, bubbles when he breathes, and a "popping" noise in the throat. The only cure is a vet visit to provide antiobiotics to clear up the infection. In the meantime, raise the temperatures in the tank to about 90 degrees day and night and make sure the tank is clean and dry. This will ease some of the symptoms until you can get your snake to the vet. REMEMBER: your snake WILL NOT get better without the antibiotics. Medication is necessary for your snake to overcome this.

Just got back from the vet and Prydator does have a URI but was caught in the beginning stage. He recevied one injection from the vet and I will give 3 more injections, one everyother day. He also received some nice gel to swab his mouth. Needless to say he is not happy with me at the moment, but in the long run he will thank me .

That's great news Marsha. Here is an excerpt from something I read.
Upper respiratory infection (URI) may be associated with vitamin A deficiency or other nutritional imbalances.
It was in an article written by:
Margaret A. Wissman, DVM, DABVP an avian/exotic/herp animal veterinarian since 1981. She is a regular contributor to REPTILES magazine.
