Snake shed concerns
Well, we solved the mystery of why Boomer, our Rosy Boa, had stopped eating for almost two weeks, time for another shed. Silly us.
Well, he left us a nice shed that now sits atop the fridge until we figure out what to do with it. However, yesteday when Boomer was playing Loch Ness Monster (head and tail poking out of substrate, rest of body "submerged", he's quite the burrower"), I noticed some loose skin at the back end of the head. Should we be concerned about this? Should we try to help remove the skin? He isn't fond of us touching his head right now so I assumed it was bothering him..........

Just make sure his bowl is full of water so he can soak. If it doesnt come off in a few days, there are some other methods that can be tried.

I have a baby corn that just had his first shed with us. Although he eats well and is active, his shed was a mess. He only shed half his skin last week and it came off as a flimsy 1 peice rectangular "sheet", NOTHING like a normal shed I've seen with other snakes. The other half of his body is visably dull and still has the old skin. He fed normally this week and has water to soak in, but doesn't seem interested in it. He seems alert and active, but I am concerned about the other skin and the best way to get it off him. I am also wondering why he had this difficulty. I had another corn in the same identical tank and set up who never had shed issues. I appreciate any ideas/help...thanks!

What are your humidity levels? Both of my corns have shedding problems, but when I see they are about to shed I increase the humidity to about 65%, which does the trick usually. If raising the humidity dosnt work put a wet towel inside a pillow case, place the snake inside and then put the pillowcase with the snake into the enclosure, to keep him warm. The snake rubbing against the wet towel should remove any retained shed. And if raising the humidity dosnt work, and the wet towel in a pillow case dosnt work, I rub a bit of liver oil on the spots with the retained shed hope that helps

Corns aren't usually a problem shed. Your enclosure may be too dry. Simplest way to deal with the problem of retained shed is to take a wet towel, place it and the snake in a wet pillowcase, knot the end and leave it over night. The snake moving around in all that dampness should fix the problem.
