Going outside

When you guys bring your snakes outside are you paranoid that they will get mites or anything? I'm reluctant to let mine climb around on a tree or the ground. Should I just let them roam in the grass or keep them in my hands at all times? Or do you just spray them with reptile relief before you bring them back into the house?
I've dealt with enough mites to last me a lifetime!

i bring my corn and my rainbow boa outside every chance I get,i don't let them in the grass or into any trees.for one I don't want them to get away on me and i'm not sure about what may be in the grass or trees(mites and stuff like that).make sure no one is using a pesticide around your house either even if it's down the block the stuff will travel through the air and is not good for your pets.

I agree with skullman, I worry more about pesticides and escapes than mites when taking herps outside.

i take my snakes outside but I hold them or sit in a chair with them in my lap. they don't go far. sometimes I take a towel outside with me and put that on my lap. sometimes they go under the towel and curl up there for awhile. so they never really leave my lap. its so cute.

I let Flicka roam around under close supervision and then check her when it's time to come in. Putting her in her cage is a war though, she likes the outdoors and I don't blame her.

Time for a refreshment:

I take my Burmese Python, Dubious, outside to go swimming in her kiddie pool, which is about 10 ft. long and 6 ft. wide. She really loves to swim and she grew out of the bathtub long ago. She usually will release any poo from her last meal when she is done with her swim as she climbs out of the pool. Since I consistently do this a few days after every meal, she never poos in her enclosure. I dry her off after the swim and sometimes take a little walk holding her. I never let her near trees. I know how fast she can climb, and nobody I know would help me rescue a 7 ft. python from a tree.

It is dangerous to children as well. I hate pesticides. Wonder why so many of us have cancer?
