    Question Loud Noises and Lizards

Hey guys, I'm still in the planning stages of a a habitat for a lizard I'm hoping to get (either a Frilled Dragon or Timor Monitor) and I've come upon a question that's sorta buggin' me. I've got a pretty big room which means havin' one of these larger lizards won't be a problem, but it also means it's where I have band practice almost every weekend. My question is this.... does music that's sometimes too loud for *me* have an adverse affect on a lizards health? My toad seems to be doin' fine, but I'd hate to lose/hurt my first lizard 'cause of somethin' as ridiculous as loud music.

Well, I know this is an odd question, but I hope you guys/gals *especially those of you who like to rock out, haha* can offer me some advice.

Yes, it will bother a lizard, it will stress one and would not be a good environment for it's overall health

My monitors are unaffected by occasional loud noises. It would make sense though that it is stressful to them to be privy to constant high elevated noises such as band playing though.

You have a legitimate concern. Having music at that range could be damaging to them.
Consider how you would feel if someone put a bag over your head and then a crowd of people surrounded you and screamed as loudly as they could for an extended period of time. And you had no idea what the heck was going on.
You would not be a very happy camper.

Haha, we're not that bad =(.

But yeah, you guys have pretty much affirmed my fears. That's stress I shouldn't put on him so I figure I'll just take him out of his cage and move him into a temporary cage upstairs in my brother's room or something. You guys don't think moving him around like that periodically would be just as bad?

    Get a snake.

    They're deaf.

LOL!!!!! Just joking!!!!! Snakes would be very disturbed by the heavy vibes too.

You need to really think about this. Even if you move him to another room when practice sessions are going on, it may still be too loud and stressful for him. How about having practise eleswhere on alternate weekends to give him a break, and moving him elesewhere when it's at your place?

A black-eyed leucistic ball python would be a dream come true for me, but my mom's like, one phobia just happens to be snakes. I'm doomed until I move out, I guess.

    Re: Loud Noises and Lizards

My brother has band practice twice a week 2 floors below my room and it bugs ME! Haha.
My monitor never seems to mind loud-ish noises. I've got my own "office" connected to my bed room that the enclosure is in and I play a lot of games, one being Forza Motorsports which has a lot of higher pitched whining engine noises but she doesn't mind. She always keeps right on doing what she was doing :P
I think the verdict on this one is pretty clear. It's good that you've thought and asked about this though. I know thereare a lot of people who wouldn't think twice on the scenario.
