Sick Corn Snake HELP!

I have an 8 to 9 year old albino female corn snake.
She has always been healthy and eates every 2-3 weeks.
But recently she has shed her skin about 2 or so weeks ago,
and about 3 days ago laid eggs.
(She was with a male 5 years ago before he died)
Do female snakes keeps laying eggs?
Mine does.. Anyways..
My corn snake Jasmine has not eaten after she shed
or before and now after she has laid her eggs.
I know snakes don't eat before laying eggs.
But what about after?

She looks pretty skinny, I'm so worried about her.
But more importantly,
I found out that sand is not a good subtrate for snakes,
I've always had Jasmine on sand,
but recently she has been getting alittle sand in her mouth,
opening her mouth constently, and sometimes breathes wierdly
(her throut puffs out like a frog)

Could impaction be causing her to breathe like this
and totally lose her appetite?,

or did the sand give her a bacteria infection.. in her lungs?

Any advice, should I take her to the vet?

Also, I heard that grapefriut seed extract can be used
to kill viruses and bacterial internally without harming snakes?

Is that true?

Re: Sick Corn Snake HELP!

As you have been told, the snake needs to see a vet! Impaction has nothing to do with the lungs and from the sounds of it you are also looking at a respiratory infection. This is serious. You don't need home remedies you need antibiotics.
