Turtle with multiple symptoms of pneumonia, help!

I know this is kind of long, but please help!!

Okay, I first noticed my 2 1/2inch red-eared slider turtle, Sunny, was swimming lopsided. Her diet, habitat, tank size, and temperature was fine, so I thought it was nothing. But later I noticed she won't go in the water, she only basks with her head down and eyes closed. She isn't eating. She sometimes breathes through her mouth. Also, in the morning, I noticed the area around her mouth was foaming a little.
I researched these turtle symptoms, and I think she has pneumonia.
I'm too young to drive, and I don't have enough money to take her to see the vet.
I asked my mom if she could take Sunny to the vet, she said no because it was "a big waste of money". I showed her just how sick my Sunny was, and she told me, "Its just a turtle."
I replied,"She's not just a turtle, she's my baby!"
Then, she told me (this made me super angry) "If she dies, we'll just buy you another one"

I kept begging her, but she kept saying no and that the turtle wouldn't be treated because of it's small size. I told her the vet would treat any animal, but she just ignored me.

Right now, Sunny is gaping with her eyes closed.

Please help, what should I do? I can't stand losing my babygirl!

If she has an upper respiratory infection, without the proper medication she will ultimately perish.

You need to get the animal looked at by a vet. there really isn't much you can do without meds.

Do you have any money? Can you get a friends parent to take you? Sometimes you need to show your parents how much you care. When you do take it in, be sure its a reptile vet.

Re: Turtle with multiple symptoms of pneumonia, he

I had about fifty dollars, but I spent it all on re-decorating my turtles' tank (most of my money I spend on my herps)
I called my friend, but I remember she's out of town. My other friend HATES reptiles (how could she??)...

I just told my parents that I care so much for my turtles, I'd walk those fifteen miles to a vet if she gave me the money, even in this dreadful rain. She ignored me

Hold on, Sunny!

Do you get an allowance? try calling the vet to see if they'll let you set up a payment plan. good luck!

Re: Turtle with multiple symptoms of pneumonia, he

are you anywhere near where I live?

also do you have a uvb light or are you using just a heat lamp for basking. You need to try to kick up the heat a little for her and set her up in her own tank as long as you have everything you need to do that.

I am sorry your parents feel that way,, it is ultimately their responsibility. Without the proper treatment and medications your turtle will perish. These are animals that can live longer than most dogs if proper care is given. If you are anywhere near me I will help you.
