At first I was thinking stomatitis.. Pic

I know I should take the animal to the vet, which will be done come Monday, But Im curious. I hate being baffled. I like first hand experience anyway.

My girlfriend's friend has this Panther and from what he was describing, I kept wanting to blame the sympthoms on stomatitis, especially since RI is involved. The RI isn't bad, but it's there. So it seemed like the best canidate.

He brought the Cham into the shop today and after looking at it, I want to say it may be Cellulitis, since after checking the animal out, his joints appear to be swollen, especially his feet.

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this problem?

I get iguanas in here all the time that have swollen feet,, Metabolic Bone Disease, is usually the problem with mine. I have had swollen feet and limbs with severe renal failure. Maybe a possibility? Has that animal had proper UVB? Does he appear to be dehydrated? chameleons are real touchy for that, if that is also a problem that will be a long uphill battle for you as it causes severe damage to the kidneys that they have a hard time recovering from.

Yeah, the animal is hydrated and I was told he had UV. I'm also curious to if he has gout since I was told he has been fed a good amount of super worms. But we thought about Metabolic Bone Disease. I'm curious about the sores though.

is there a cheesy like substance in his mouth? Is his jaw soft? I am with you on the vet, the will be able to tell you exactly what is going on.

I've never seen anything like it, but I have no Cham experience. It may just be several things wrong and thats why you see so many symptoms.
Did you ask how fresh the UVB light is?

Make sure you give us an update once you know more.

Re: At first I was thinking stomatitis.. Pic

I wish I could help you out. My only experience with chameleons came with a veiled that had severe Metabolic Bone Disease by the time I got him. He was never able to fully recover, though, and died not long after I started taking care of him.

I would definitely get him to the vet. Those sores look pretty nasty, and I wouldn't want to take a chance with them for too long. Hopefully it will be something that can be taken care of easily. But please do keep us updated.
