Help!
Last week I took my Bearded Dragon to the vet to get treatment for parasites where he got an injection and I have been giving him medicine at home. Well he has been acting weird since then, sleeping in unusual spots and acting rather lethargic. So last night like 3 hours after his lights were out we noticed him moving around and trembling. His temps were a few degrees colder than normal, so we thought he might be cold. My fiancee held him under her shirt and I added another Under Tank Heater to his tank. Well right as I went to put him back in his tank he puffed up and started gaping then shaking his head from side to side at me. I put him up and he fell right asleep over the new Under Tank Heater. So fine right? NO, I woke up this morning an hour before his lights come on and he ussually gets up and he was wandering around his tank still trembling. What does this sound like? I gave him some water and added a reptisun 10.0 in case this could be Metabolic Bone Disease, but he has a good UV light. What could this be? I'm calling the vet anyway, but I would love to hear your opinions as well.

I'm really not sure what it could be. Calling the vet is the best answer. The only think I would think of with the shaking could be lack of calcium maybe or some neurological. Please keep us posted.

Its Called Bactrim, after the initial injection at the vet, I give him 0.02cc a day for 7 days. He is at the vet's office now, they are going to give him a tox screen and are going to call me when they find out anything.

Bactrim is an antibiotic, not an anti parasite drug.
I think you need a second opinion!

Well, all his tests came up clear except he still has parasites, which the doctor thinks is causing the tremors. He said there were no signs of neurological disorders and his tox screen came up clear. They told me to discontinue using the Bactrim and in a week they will give me a different medicine. They also gave me a powder called Carnivore Care which I'm supposed to mix with warm water and syringe feed him. As far as the light it was sold to me as a T-Rex Active UV Heat Bulb, but I just got a bigger one I ordered for a different enclosure and it looks nothing like it. I bought it at a reptile expo and I think I was ripped off. He also has a reptisun 10.0 compact floresecent that is only a month old.

Upon further research I am pretty convinced that his symptoms were from a toxic reaction to the Bactrim. Everything I have found says that his symptoms were from eating something poisonous and I have found several papers stating that Bactrim can be toxic to reptiles in the doses needed to get rid of parasites. Has anyone else had bad reactions to Bactrim? Also does anyone have any suggestions of what treament might be effective so I can research it before I go back next week?
