Short of splinting his tail with popsicle sticks and medical tape I really don't know that there is a whole lot you can do.
When Diz's tail tip was necrotic my boss broke it off clean above the necrotic line but it got necrotic again about 2 weeks later and it stayed on the bottom 4mm of tail so I wasnt too worried and the day before I was going to have my boss pop it off again he threw a fit in the bathtub and broke it off himself at the necrotic line and it healed perfectly. I've had a couple issues with the regrowth not shedding properly, but otherwise it looks fine.
