Bearded Dragon Enclosure

I am in the process of having Vegas's permanent enclosure made. I was wondering what is the ideal size for an adult bearded dragon, not the minimum but what you would consider to be the ideal dimensions?

Re: Bearded Dragon Enclosure

They need more floor space vs height. I would say at least 4 ft long and 2 ft wide or greater, depends on what you have space for.

Re: Bearded Dragon Enclosure

He has an entire room to himself at the moment....I am building the library around his enclosure. I was looking at possibly a 4' x 2' x 2'. I don't want to be excessive as I want the construction to be affordable.

And by building different levels in the enclosure you will increase the usable floor space.

Re: Bearded Dragon Enclosure

First figure out what size you would like. Then sketch it out in scale for a 4 x 8 sheet of material. Then you can tweak the sizes so that you don't end up having a lot of waste.
Like stated. Incorporate some ledges into it.

Re: Bearded Dragon Enclosure

I defiantly agree with planning out all your cuts first. I actually cut out pieces from graph paper to represent each board I would need, then kept re-arranging on a piece of graph cut to represent the uncut wood to figure out just what the best arrangement would be...

And if you aren't planning on adding more than one level then I would suggest making it so that the floor is only 16 - 18" from where the UVB is going to be.

Plan as much as you can before cutting anything. It makes things much simpler and much less stressful as you are building.

Good luck!
