since I had the tank apart, I made a few upgrades

The frogs are back and its all together. Since I had everyone out, i did a bit of upgrading. I hope it all works out for the best.

Upgrade #1 and probably the best. A way to LOCK it! No more clamps! I had this brainy idea at 3am one night when I couldn't sleep.

6 screw eyes and 2 pins. two locking spots, one down low and one up high. Screw eyes on the doors and one on the cabinet. When they all match up, stick the pin through! So simple. I can't believe it took me so long to come up with this.

I insulated the top to keep heat and moisture in. Seems to be working really well. The tank had no problem getting the heat up and my humidity was still at 83% when i woke up this morning. The tiles around the heat unit is because my husband still thinks I'm going to burn the house down.

And last but not least, I took someone's suggestion and lined the doors with weather stripping to keep the heat in. Works great with the new latches.

when I thought of it at 3am, i actually made myself get up and write it down. I knew if i went back to sleep the idea would be lost.

Locks and catches can be pricey. Your idea is very simple and very effective.
Nicely done.

Re: since I had the tank apart, I made a few upgra

got home from work, the tank was a nice 83 degrees and 73% humidity. Thats so much more improved from before! I had a hard time keeping it above 50% and a hard time keeping the temp above 77.

Re: since I had the tank apart, I made a few upgra

I figured that weatherstripping should help. It doesn't take much for humidity to escape.

They seem really happy to be back in their home. Yesterday was feeding day and EVERYONE had huge appetites. Even Philip!
