Cuban Knight Anole enclosure options??

Hello all! I currently have a 2 year old female Cuban Anole living in a live planted terrarium. She began laying eggs over the summer, and I've decided to get her a male. Before I bring him home, I want to have a new live planted enclosure ready. I want it to be big enough for the 2 of them, so I'm thinking it should be about 6ft tall, 4 ft long, and 3 ft wide. I'm not very good at building things, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to find something this big, besides Cages by Design- they're on the pricey side. Also, I love the idea of having a little pond and waterfall in the terrarium, but I have no idea how I would do such a thing! I'm not very crafty, and I appreciate any ideas! Thanks!

Re: Cuban Knight Anole enclosure options??

your best bet for getting exactly what you want is to build it yourself. I would suggest that you plan it all out before starting, that way you save yourself at least some of the headache. for just basic ideas you could frame it out with 2x4's and then use plywood for the sides that don't need to be see through and plexiglass or screen (depending on need for humidity) for the sides you want to see into. you should be able to add a water feature with something as simple as a rubermaid container or such... Hope this helps.

also, if you check out some of freecycle or craigslist sites then sometimes you can find furniture or cabinets that you can modify so you don't have to build it from scratch.

And be sure to quarantine the new anole for 30-60 days before you introduce it to your other one.
It would be a shame to introduce the reptile version of PLAGUE into your newly planted and tricked out vivarium. And have to tear it all apart!

If you're not too handy with tools, I would go with the find an old cabinet way. Getting a large Armoir would work great. Even if you spent $100 on it, it's still a good deal.
