i have never used epoxy or built a water feature so I am stumped. Usually when constructing, i point people towards dendro board, since they are dart frog based and many people do water features to keep humidity waaaayyy up.

Yes you're going to have to paint it. Best way to do it is get inspiration from photos and try to emulate it.

Zoopoxy might run a bit more than you really need to spend. I would look for other epoxys on the market. You may have the best luck using a external filter for your waterfall. Though this may mean you'll have to drill a hole in the side of the glass.

My suggestion is to make the base form with styropor and then use a waterprof grout over that. Finally coating this in your epoxy with whatever base color powder added, while the epoxy is wet you can dust it with peat or sand to give it a natural look without having to paint in detail.
