I had that happen with a 55g tank. It was empty, and I was cleaning it out and put it on my deck. My neighbor saw it and asked me to sell it to her for her son's new bearded dragons. I had paid a little over $100 for it several years before, and I knew that the price of brand new tanks similar to mine were now around $120. I also tend to recycle my tanks often. I can always find a use for one. So I thought I'd sell it to her for $75. She freaked and told me that she could buy a new one for $50, so why should she pay $75 for a used one? (She was hoping I'd just give it to her.).

There's always someone who says they can get it cheaper. That's a scam. Just hope that their pride won't keep them from coming back and paying you your $75.00!

I haven't heard any more about it. She may have found another tank to better suit her needs. Perhaps she's found a used one she could afford, or perhaps she broke down and bought a new one for $120. Wouldn't that be ironic?

Anyway, my tank is in use again now, so I can't sell it to her, even if she did ask.

I do give away 20g tanks quite frequently when I'm not using them, but I can get replacement for those so easily. There's always someone selling a used one or giving them away because their fish died. But larger tanks are much harder to find used and are much more expensive new.
