Help...corn snake on roach trap :-(

Hey folks.... need help here ASAP.

Got a call this morning from a m8 that had a missing corn hatchling... maybe 2-3 months old.

Finally found him on a cricket trap!

Soaked trap off without skin damage but glue is stuck to him.

I HAVE called the vets...actually 4 of them, including the Zoo vet here in Northern Ireland

I have also spoken to the local reptile shop and breeders.

I ALSO called the manufactures of the roach trap.

Between all of them and myself we have come up with the following....

As I had to go to work I needed a shortterm answer. I soaked her then sprinkled cornflour over her ( the most inert, fine powder I could think of) The vets have agreed with this action.

After speaking with the manufacturer they recommend citrus hand cleaner of which I have 6 different types coming tonight....so I can find the least harsh of them all. The vet has ALSO agreed with this action.

I'll let ya all know how I get in!

Thanks for all advice etc

Thanks

Andy

oh no.. i was saying cornflour in my head when I read the heading. I would not feel too safe using any cleaning agents... but thats just my view. A good soak should do the trick..and as long as the glue is'nt harmful to the snake I would not stress too much. it will come off next shed...and the snake is young so it won't be too long.

Try rubbing mineral oil over the glued areas. It should seep between the skin and the adhesive. If the snake is still sticky use the flour or better yet corn starch and wait for the next shed. Since it is a hatchling we are only talking about a week or two.
I would be hesitant about putting any sort of solvent hand cleaner on the snake.

ive had good luck with different oils(massage them in well), at the petshop I worked at the owner felt like it was ok to use sticky traps for all the roaches, What sucked about this is that we caught other stuff too... for instance a poor leo that we had to freeze because there was no way it was coming off.. and we had two different sulcatta tortoises crawl on them(we let them roam the store) Oil definatley worked best getting the crap sticky stuff off.. Hope that works for you, You definatley don't want that poor snake getting skin damage from this. Good thing its a baby so it should shed pretty quick.

We have used vegtable oil to remove animals stuck on sticky traps. It will also remove the glue.
Gently rub and work it around the glue and the glue will come off.

I agree with Noreen, vegetable oil should do the trick.
